Bees Clock
This Bees clock has bees flying though the air around it !
Whenever I am in my garden I hope there will always be bees there. In early spring we see queen bees come out of hibernation and start looking round for nest sites. Later in Summer, there are many types of bee all over the garden, searching for nectar. I think the bees on this clock must be bumble bees as they are so round and fat.
The materials I used for this clock are brass and copper, and when the copper is heated it turns the red colour, and I etch the writing into the metal. The text is from 18th century writer Isaac Watts improving verse for children, “How doth the little busy bee improve each shining hour.”
It has a battery powered movement, and is about 14cm high. The main picture shows a wallmounted version. You can also order it as a freestanding clock, (fourth picture), choose below which you’d like when ordering.
